Bop for reed quintet (2021)

Bop was composed for the Pennsylvania Chamber Winds for their very first call for scores. It was originally premiered as a reed quintet, but has since been arranged for many other ensembles. See more details below.

In contrast to many of my other pieces, I composed Bop without any thoughts toward a narrative or program. Instead, I focused solely on creating something fun and followed my gut. Bop is indebted to my experiences playing works by Marc Mellits, Michael Torke, and Jacob TV.

Bop is currently available for the following:

  • Reed Quintet (ob, cl, sx, bs.cl, bsn)

  • Wind Quintet (fl, ob, cl, hn/sx, bsn)

  • Brass Quintet (tpt, tpt, hn, tbn, tba)

  • String Quintet (vln, vln, vla, clo, bs)

  • Saxophone Quintet (sop, al, tn, br, bs)

  • Percussion Ensemble (2 vibraphones, 3 marimbas)
